These terms apply unless different ones are agreed on privately.
Payment
The price of the lessons includes my own internal materials, but not the external materials. Students doing the levels A1-B2, as well as those preparing for a DELE exam, will have to buy a book.
Roble I/S is registered in the European Union (Denmark), and payments are made through a bank transfer to the Danish bank account indicated in the invoice. The amount in the invoice is given in Euro (except for clients in Denmark, who may receive it in Danish Crowns).
Regarding fees in payments from outside the SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area)
Transference fees must be paid by the sender. If the amount received in DKK is significantly lower than the amount in the invoice, I may have to deduct a proportional amount of time from the balance of lessons.
In the past, I offered that transference fees could be shared, but neither my bank nor the client's payment systems informed me of how much each side was paying, so it was difficult to ensure that the split was the same across different clients who used different systems (or even to know the split at all). Therefore, I have now moved to asking the client to pay the fees, which makes my accounting simpler, and the client is free to find the payment provider with the lowest fees. For clients within SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area), it's very simple to make a transfer from their SEPA bank, and the fees are usually zero or so low that I won't discount them from the lesson balance. For clients outside SEPA, such as in the US, making transfers to the EU from their bank is less straightforward, and some processors can add significant fees. Wise or Payoneer seem to be the preferred choices among my clients and their fees seem to be among the lowest.
Business clients
For business clients located in Denmark, 25% of VAT has to be added to the price. Any other clients are exempt from VAT (business clients located outside Denmark or private customers located anywhere).
Other
The validity of purchased lessons expires two years from the date of payment.
I keep and share with my students a log file with the balance of lessons.
Clients aren't allowed to record lessons without my explicit consent.
Lesson length
One-hour and half-hour lessons include a (respectively) 10-minute and a 5-minute break at the end.
Scheduling
I often agree on the time of the next lesson at the end of the previous one, but it can also be done off-lesson if you prefer.
Rescheduling for the student
You can reschedule individual lessons if you ask 72 hours or more in advance. This means that if you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson less than 72 hours before it takes place, the lesson will be deducted from the balance of lessons even if it doesn't take place. I need to do this because if I allow clients to routinely cancel or move lessons at the last moment, it causes a significant loss of income for me, because I am generally unable to fill these slots with other students within such short notice. In addition, that reserved spot may often have been denied to another student.
I can make an exception if a punctual, unforeseen major circumstance takes place, such as a medical emergency. In a case like this, I will generally reschedule the lesson without being subtracted from the balance of lessons, even if it happens at the last moment.
Conversely, even though rescheduling more than 72 hours won't subtract the lesson from the student's saldo, I'd rather this not be done routinely.
Rescheduling for the teacher
The rescheduling rules for me are similar to those for the student. I can reschedule more than 72 hours before the lesson, but I will not be doing this often. Generally, if I plan a vacation or time off, I try to give notice a few weeks ahead.
I will only move a lesson less than 72 hours in advance in extreme situations, such as a medical emergency or a sickness that doesn't allow me to teach online. This is very uncommon.
Group lessons are only for adult students.
One-hour lessons include a 10-minute break at the end.
If you cannot attend a specific group lesson, I cannot reschedule them like I do with some 1-to-1 lessons, because the other students are still taking the planned lesson.
The number of spots in a group is limited in order to ensure quality. Spots are given in order of preference determined by the time you express deliberate interest (request an invoice). However, the spot is only secured if the payment is received latest 48 hours before the first lesson of the group. This gives a chance for queued students to be included in time in case someone doesn't complete the subscription.
If a group doesn't reach the minimum amount of students, it will have to be cancelled, and the price of the lessons will be returned.
